Acid never went anywhere. It's been dominating the underground EDM scene again for several years. It's mainstream club culture that goes various places (some good, some bad), but eventually returns to the tried and true... And, yes, I'm serious.

I was talking about the underground global festival circuit. Stuff like Moontribe, Shasta, Oaxaca, and the SE Asian full moon parties... And, yes, Psy is huge in all those places as well!

I don't even know what acid house is, but if you speak of that track by Afrojack thats #2 in beatports electro house charts called "Pacha on Acid" then I LOVE it, that track is awesome, I dropped it on Fri. at the high school barn party and the kids went nuts. Kind of too long of a breakdown though.

No offense, but anyone playing any kind of 4/4 dance music should make themselves familiar with acid house. It is one of the two SEMINAL forms of dance music (along with detroit techno). That said, I agree with you about Pacha on Acid. Dylan Rhymes apparently made a re-edit that cuts out the breakdown and will be distributing it to folks soon. I'll let ya know when I get a copy.

There are too many sub genres to keep track of. Half the tracks I play I have no idea what sub genre they fit into so I just make up my own to organize them. Also I find disagreement among producers/djs as to what is what. For example I was getting a bunch of those afrojack style tracks(not like pacha on acid but the other ones) and I didn't know what to call it, I researched and on blogs some call it dutch house, some call it tropical house, some called it a different kind of tribal house, I asked a local Boise DJ and he called it Latin house. So I just make up my own names.

I have a whole section of tracks I call "weird house" cuz I don't know what else to call it. I have another group called "gritty house" which I doubt is a real subgenre name but its what I call it.

I have seen documentaries of people talking about acid house and years ago when I first started spinning I went through everything on ishkurs guide to electronic music(which is super outdated now as a bunch of new sounds have evolved over the last few years)

I've read that wiki defenition before too.

I would Love a pacha on acid edit with a shorter breakdown, and I also would love to find more tracks of that kind of sound.
