Straight up though, jumping on here to go after people for posting their opinions, are you guys daft? This is one of the most important tools for promoters and djs to receive feedback on their party or music. Even the long winded attempts at explanations were pretty weak. I did not go but I even received a text the day of about the afterparty being included.

We all realize how things change, but if your shit is not sorted and you have to make last minute changes, don't take it out on your supporters. Coming with the attitude and drama I have seen here, in a scene this small, well good luck with that.

Oh and superLOL at all the "I lost money" and "I should make money" talk. I know people in Portland and Seattle doing this for 10+ years who still have not broken even all said. If you want to make a business out of it, move to Seattle and try to compete with USC, if you are in it for the love, then this is a great place as that is what people respond to.

I am glad some others are seeing that an event review is just that, and that its meant to review and event and not kiss ass. :)

Just so you know Billy Wonka, Zacklander wasn't directing that comment to Dark Knight and he also had very little to do with either party. He was just trying clarifying some thing and got a little worked up. Also, as Jeff Lynn said, the underground party was put together, last minute, after the actual afterparty fell through. It wasn't really associated with the Powerhouse party at all. This whole situation was caused by a young promoter not taking care of his shit and everyone trying to clean up behind him, but I will not throw out names.

"Oh, and one other thing. Hector wasn't playing DEEP HOUSE. Jesus. know your genres!".Zacklander . He kinda was . And it was my bad for telling dark knight that what he didnt like was deep house when in fact it was funky and tech from what i hear.It sounds like an all together bad situtation. But maybe by reviews People will fix it . If dark knight is comming to a show of mine i can count at least 8 -10 people comming with him. All paying and positive, but when left out in the rain and told to buzz off the property, thats just not right. And ya im going to speak up.
I called Gill asap as it was bullshit. He call me back 5 times trying to explain it. Hes been the only one to come forth and say .. sorry, oops. ill fix it . , everyones just defensive .. Hes cool and im sure itll go off again. Maybe next time .. clean up the sound a bit, and post on a big white sheet. NO AFTERHOURS .. then people arent misled and confused and feel cheated at 2 am in the morn instead of 1 am their not standing loaded on some guys grass thinking they can go in and party. when in reality .. they arent welcome .

This event was slightly disappointing for me, not because of the music, but because of the situation with the afterparty. It was such a complete downer that once I got to the after party, as it was said before, I was treated HORRIBLY. I wasn't even complaining to the people running the door about having to pay an additional $5, just wanted a direct explanation why the information had changed from what was on the flyer, yet they treated me as if I was attacking them. I heard two different stories about this. One was the promotor screwed up and didn't have anywhere to throw the afterparty so that's why they were charging. Another(directly from someone close to the promotor) was that the people running the afterparty had requested to put the after hours on and had been paid UP FRONT by the promotor for the advance tickets so that those people would be able to be let in for free, but the people running the door still chose to charge an additional $5 and pocketed all the money.
I don't know which is true, but either way, the people running the door were rude and could have handled it better. I left the afterparty and came back, and as soon as I did they decided no re-entry was allowed and were extremely douchey to people who were trying to re-enter.
Other than that, i enjoyed the music and actually preferred the sets played at the after hours. But, the way I was treated at the door left a bitter taste in my mouth and I highly doubt I will be going back to that venue again.

Some of that was true but most of it was completely fuc*ing bogus. Whatever, I don't even care anymore. Most of that was no ones business anyways.

I missed who it was .. but its what i was talking about. A past supporter now feels cheated .. After she had a good time at the afterhours and paying again. But was treated badly. Now next time i play that venu, that girl may not come back because of her past negative experiences. Our actions affect us all.

I went and enjoyed the music - specifically AZN. Then again - they were the primary reason I attended. The venue was great - and I think that it should be considered for future parties - as long as they will be big. It would be awesome for 500 people but with the 150 or so I estimate was there - it seemed kinda empty.

I am all about checking out new promoters here in town and giving DJs that I don't know a shot. I went to one of the early Limelight nights with 4 other friends and we were pleasantly surprised and had quite the good time. That's one of the reasons that I came out for this one - because I thought that Brandon did a pretty good job with that.

However - I was VERY disappointed with the 1AM closure. I was expecting more and the dance floor was really just getting going good. I helped Robert and Jarrett pack up the lighting equipment and then headed over to the afterparty. I was confused about the discrepancy with Studio J vs the place on Main that the party ended up being at. Brandon gave me directions and I headed over anyways. I was quite surprised with the add'l charge for the afterparty and was about to fork over the extra cash when I was told the place was at capacity and to just go away. For me - that was the icing on the cake. I was in the mood to keep dancing the night away and have a good time - but that shut me down completely. I understand that venues reach capacity - but the way this was handled (by the venue owner or rep) was just a dick move!

As I was leaving I ran into Robert and Chris and let them know what was going on. We talked for a few and they decided to go to a friends house and I decided to just call it a night. Honestly - I will evaluate the next party that these guys throw based on the lineup - and take into account the way this one went - and then decide. We have a lot of other great parties to choose from in this town and it may be that I take that night off.

That's just my opinion - take it for what you want!

Yes the venue is great, BUT the people who run it suck. We couldn't bring purses in and the staff was really rude. I vote no more at the powerhouse for this reason, it can impact the vibe.

Tink is being kind, based on what Billy told me about the way he was treated that night. Truly awful management, and the venue owners should be told if anyone knows them. Billy will tell you the story if you ask nicely. :-)
